ByteDance’s workplace collaboration app Lark, known as Feishu in Chinese, reached $100 million in subscription revenue in 2022, according to a Thursday report by Chinese media outlet 36Kr. This is the first time such a figure has been disclosed since the Slack-like tool was officially made available for the Chinese market in 2019, but Feishu CEO Xie Xin said the $100 million in revenue represents a 270% increase over the platform’s 2021 figure. In 2021, Feishu launched a new monetization strategy to focus on bigger clients and 36Kr’s report noted that subscription revenue had seen rapid growth mainly thanks to a number of leading companies becoming subscribers to the platform, including smartphone maker Xiaomi, electric vehicle maker Li Auto, and Lilith Games. Feishu is also eyeing overseas expansion due to profitability challenges in the Chinese market, Jiemian reported in January. [36Kr, in Chinese]
