On Monday, Xiaomi displayed its new wireless AR glasses at Mobile World Congress 2023. The smart specs feature two Micro-OLED screens, supporting 1,200 nits of brightness and full HD FHD visuals. Three forward-facing cameras share the job of mapping the surroundings directly in front of the wearer. The lightweight AR glasses, made of carbon fiber and magnesium alloy, run on Xiaomi’s self-developed silicon oxygen anode battery, weighing less than conventional lithium-ion. The lighter battery contributes to the glasses weighing just 126 grams in total. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 chip, the glasses have no storage of their own, so must be connected to a device (such as the Xiaomi 13 phone). Advertised latency is only 50ms, which according to testers means that even after 20 minutes of video watching, there is barely any lag and no degradation in picture quality. [IThome, in Chinese]
