Pony.ai’s chief financial officer Lawrence Steyn recently left the company after two years in the role, citing personal reasons, a company spokesperson confirmed when contacted by TechNode on Monday. The self-driving car developer said it has since appointed Wang Haojun, previously the chief operating officer of the company, to take over the role. Steyn, who had previously served as a vice chairman at JP Morgan, joined Pony.ai in July, 2021. A month earlier, chief executive James Peng told Reuters that the Toyota-backed unicorn was mulling a potential public listing in the US, though the company soon suspended its New York listing plan as the Chinese authorities tightened regulations on tech companies, Reuters reported in August, 2021. Chinese media outlet 36Kr first reported Steyn’s departure. [36Kr, in Chinese]
