Chinese gaming distributor Giant Interactive Group and Baidu’s AI team have jointly produced China’s first AI-developed mobile game character, entitled Space Shark, it was announced on Monday. Based on Baidu’s technical support and using the same technology behind the search giant’s ChatGPT alternative ERNIE Bot, the two companies launched Space Shark in online game Super Sus: Who is the Impostor, which is developed by Giant. “The Baidu Wenxin large model team is responsible for the training, generation, and in-depth optimization of this AI image. Our team took charge of the overall planning and in-game development,” a Giant employee told China Star Market. In Super Sus, users are able to create their own rules and add UGC, such as new skins and imagery. [China Star Market, in Chinese]
