China’s version of LinkedIn, InCareer, will close its jobs portal in August. “Though InCareer experienced some success in the past year thanks to our strong China-based team, it also encountered fierce competition and a challenging macroeconomic climate,” the employment service provider said in a statement on Monday. LinkedIn announced in October 2021 that it would be shutting down the localized version of its services in China, citing “a more challenging operating environment” and “greater compliance requirements.” The Microsoft-owned firm launched InCareer, a standalone jobs app, in its place. As of July 2022, InCareer had 57 million users, connected via LinkedIn to 875 million members worldwide, according to the company. InCareer will go on to help companies operating in China with hiring, marketing and training staff abroad, a strategy pivot that will result in 700 staff losing employment in China.
