Global sales of private electric vehicles grew by 32% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous year, according to Chinese media outlet IT Home, which based its report on new data from market research firm Counterpoint Research. The report notes that China remains the largest electric vehicle market on the globe, with a 29% yearly growth in EV sales despite a 12% decline in overall sales of passenger vehicles in the country. Sales of the top 10 electric vehicle models account for 37% of global EV sales. Tesla’s Model Y continues to be the best-selling model worldwide, followed by the American brand’s Model 3 and BYD’s Model Song.
