Qingtian Truck, a Chinese autonomous truck startup founded by former engineers from Pony.ai, is shutting down, according to an internal letter obtained by Caixin on Wednesday. The company informed employees on June 16 that it would be conducting an orderly liquidation of its assets, and employees are not required to report to the office. This decision follows the departure of co-founder Sun Youhan in May, who was previously a tech lead at Toyota-backed Pony.ai. Sun and Pan Zhenghao, an early member of Pony.ai, co-founded Qingtian in November 2021, successfully closing its angel funding round from investment firm 5Y Capital last year. Last August, Pony.ai filed a lawsuit against Qingtian, alleging an infringement of its intellectual property. However, earlier this month, both companies announced that they had reached a settlement over the lawsuit. [Caixin, in Chinese]
