On June 28, Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor announced its plans to officially enter the Vietnamese market in August. The first model to be launched in Vietnam will be the Haval H6 HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle). GWM will initially export fully assembled vehicles to Vietnam from its factory in Rayong, Thailand. However, the company plans to establish a new energy vehicle assembly plant in Vietnam by 2025. With approximately 500,000 units of automotive sales in 2022, Vietnam ranks as the fourth-largest car market in the ASEAN region, following Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. GWM has already established its presence in six ASEAN countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Brunei, the Philippines, and Cambodia. In the second half of 2023, the company plans to gradually enter the Vietnamese, Singaporean, and Indonesian markets. [Caixin, in Chinese]
