At the 2026 TapTap Game Conference on Thursday, Recreate Games announced the development of a mobile version of its hit party game Party Animals. The studio said, “The mobile version folder has been created,” but did not disclose a testing schedule or release window. Even so, the announcement quickly drew widespread attention from players.

Since its launch on PC and Xbox in 2023, Party Animals has become a popular choice for multiplayer sessions thanks to its adorable animal characters, physics-based slapstick gameplay, and lighthearted party mechanics.

The game has earned a Very Positive rating on Steam and received nominations for Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards (TGA) as well as the BAFTA Games Awards, making it one of China’s best-known party games.

According to the team, the mobile version will retain the core gameplay of the original. Players will once again take control of round, fluffy animal characters to play sports, card games, hide-and-seek, go fishing, or engage in the game’s signature friendly brawls.

To better suit mobile devices, the development team says it is optimizing the touchscreen controls, aiming to make classic actions such as moving, grabbing, and sprinting feel as smooth as possible while preserving the original’s physics-driven interactions.

For now, however, the project remains in what the developers jokingly describe as the “folder created” stage, indicating that development is still in its early days. Whether the mobile version will introduce platform-exclusive gameplay, new social features, or monetization systems has yet to be announced.

The announcement has been met with considerable excitement from the community. Many longtime players are looking forward to enjoying Party Animals with friends anytime and anywhere without needing a PC. Others who previously skipped the game because of its platform requirements see the mobile version as an opportunity to finally jump in.

At the same time, some players remain cautiously optimistic. Much of Party Animals appeal comes from its multiplayer experience, realistic physics, and spontaneous interactions between friends. Whether those elements can be faithfully recreated on touchscreen devices remains to be seen.

Still, the mobile version has a few hurdles to clear. Mobile players have plenty of party games to choose from, so simply porting the PC experience may not be enough. How well it adapts to touchscreen controls and on-the-go gameplay could make all the difference.

As more PC games expand to mobile platforms, the launch of a mobile version of Party Animals reflects Recreate Games’ efforts to reach a broader audience.

If the studio can preserve the fun and charm of the original while delivering a polished mobile experience, the game has the potential to attract both returning fans and new players. For now, however, whether the mobile version can capture the same magic as the PC release remains to be seen.
