ByteDance has shut down Red Candle Stories, its paid-fiction app, after just over six months of operation. The service stopped on Aug. 17, with its servers closed and users unable to log in or access the app.
Unlike ByteDance’s free-fiction platform Tomato Novel, Red Candle Stories combined a free section with a paid membership section. Members could receive a 20% discount on selected paid books. [IT Home, in Chinese]
