Meta has developed a humanoid robot prototype with Chinese robotics company Fourier and is already working on a second version, according to an October 31 report by The Information. The project forms part of Meta’s efforts to develop robots capable of performing household tasks.
The prototype, internally called Max, stands about five feet tall. It has speakers in its chest, a face capable of mimicking human expressions, and five-fingered hands that can pick up small objects. The companies reportedly built the first prototype in three months.
The prototypes are intended to support development of a future consumer robot. Meta has not set a launch date, and the current units are being used for research rather than offered for sale. [PYMNTS]
