TechNode is looking for a reporter to cover news stories and enterprise news in a newsroom dedicated to explaining China tech to English-language readers.
About you
- You have excellent writing skills in English and Chinese.
- You are skilled at communicating across cultures. While your second language abilities may not be 100% fluent, you are still able to effectively communicate with others from different backgrounds.
- You have experience or are interested in writing news on a deadline.
- You have experience with or deep-seated interest in writing about China’s thriving technology sectors, from e-commerce to health tech to hardware to artificial intelligence.
- You have an innate curiosity about the world. You always want to know more and understand the trends, forces, and people changing the world.
- You are available to work in Shanghai.
- Bringing a contact roster with you is a big plus but not necessary.
What you’ll do
We are a growing team, so you’ll likely get involved in a little bit of everything, but here are some of the main things you’ll be doing:
- Source, pitch, and write news stories about China’s technology and startup ecosystems.
- Take the lead on TechNode’s coverage of a vertical in China tech.
- Translate Chinese copies (written by TechNode’s Chinese media colleagues) to English, and English copies to Chinese.
