Taipei, June 12, 2011 – Startup Weekend is coming to Taipei, and will be held at National Cheng-chi University on August 12-14. Startup Weekend is a 54 hour startup event that provides the networking, resources, and incentives for individuals and teams to go from idea to launch. Startup Weekend Taipei will be the 373rd event globally but 1st ever to be held in Taiwan. The event is open to anyone interested in the local entrepreneurial community, and it puts attendees in a setting where anything is possible. Ideal attendees include developers, designers, entrepreneurs, marketing and business people, university graduates and those uninspired by their current employment.

Together, we are our own community of passionate entrepreneurs on a mission to help other entrepreneurs facilitate innovation. Tickets are limited and the early bird rate ($1,000NT) is valid through June 15.

An All-Star list of experienced mentors, including Taiwanese, Chinese and Silicon Valley Serial Entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, public company executives will provide hands-on mentoring to guide teams from ideas to proof of concept prototypes. With more young people willing to experiment with ideas and investors willing to back them, Taiwan with its strong experience in technology, has a competitive advantage in the global software startup scene. Silicon Valley is famous for its startup ecosystem and Taiwan has many of the same ingredients. Startup Weekend will help put all the pieces together for faster success. Taiwan’s startup ecosystem is poised to grow as Taiwan is ideally placed to be a bridge between Mainland China and the West.

Startup Weekend Taipei ends on Sunday evening with presentations, prizes and perhaps seed investment. What all participating teams will receive is invaluable access to some of the leading minds in the startup ecosystem as well as the exposure that comes with an internationally renowned event.
