OpenXLive, a Windows Phone-centered gaming and social networking platform, announced on Sept. 24 that it has been installed for more than 10 million times, a rather nice milestone for apps on WP OS (report in Chinese). The daily active users of OpenXLive amounted to 740,000, according to official stats of the company.
Launched at the end of 2010, OpenXLive took 540 days to record 5 million installs on April 13 this year, but it took only 148 days to double that figure. OpenXLive is expected to top 35 million installs by the end of 2014.
In addition to providing official website maintenance services to grass root game developers, OpenXLive also offers analytical services for mobile games, helping developers to gain more insights into the demographic and user behaviors, and then, upgrade the next version accordingly.
The platform also cross-promotes apps by recommending new games to players, an effective measure to save hefty promotion fees as the case on Android and iOS platforms. Moreover, OpenXLive’s in-app payment function provides access to multiple payment methods, such as Alipay and Paypal, etc.
Players of OpenXLive get to see their achievements and how it looks like among friends, and they can see the leaderboard to get a better idea of ranking in the game.
OpenXLive witnessed exponential growth because it focused on three most important issues for game developers, namely, promotion, in-game payment and joint operation, said Fen Ning, co-founder and CTO of the company. Feng added that the success is also attributed to the rapid development of WP platform in China as well.
