Medlinker, a Tencent-backed Chinese online healthcare company, has merged with Tencent Doctorwork to create a new telemedicine giant worth $5 billion (RMB 31.8 billion), local media TMT Post reported on Sunday. The merged company, to be called Medlinker Group, marks a major reshuffle in Tencent’s online healthcare ecosystem in response to a regulation issued in October aiming to raise the bar for operating telemedicine businesses in China. Hong Kong-listed Sino Biopharmaceutical invested $514 million for a 13% stake in Medlinker last year, raising its valuation to $4 billion. Doctorwork raised $250 million at a valuation of $1 billion in 2019. [TMT Post, in Chinese]
