Shanghai-based research agency CINNO released February report on Wednesday on smartphone System on Chip (SoC) shipments, showing top brands of the main processing chips used in new smartphones sold in China. The report said that shipments by the top 5 SoC makers all fell by more than 20% in February, compared with the previous month. Taiwan-based MediaTek and Qualcomm top the list with 9.6 million and 8.5 million shipments respectively, while Apple ranks third, shipping 3.8 million units. However, shipments for Huawei Hisilicon’s SoC came in at just 700,000, dropping 84.1% compared with the same period last year.
