Daily production and supply of ibuprofen and paracetamol in China has increased more than fourfold compared to early December, with daily production now up to 190 million tablets, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Wang Jiang told a press conference on Thursday. The country has been facing shortages of fever-reducing drugs as Covid infections surge following the authorities’ rapid dismantling of its zero-Covid measures at the beginning of December. Wang also stated that 174 million tablets of ibuprofen and 60 million tablets of paracetamol had been allocated to key areas by Dec. 28, adding that China has sufficient capacity and output to meet the national demand for medicines.
