WPS, the word processing software owned by Chinese tech company Kingsoft, announced on Monday it will be launching a generative AI tool soon, without giving further details. The AI writing assistant, WPS AI, is expected to be able to create emails and articles in response to prompts, conduct multilingual translations, and write advertising slogans, according to local media outlet APPSO, which has already tested the tool. CEO of Kingsoft Zhang Qingyuan told the outlet that WPS AI is powered by Chinese AI startup MiniMax, which currently has three foundation models, including Text-to-Text, Text-to-Visual, and Text-to-Audio. Zhang stated that the AI tool will be available within weeks. [APPSO, in Chinese]
