On Thursday, Chinese phone maker Realme’s President of Global Marketing Xu Qi posted a picture of the forthcoming Realme 11 series on social media platform Weibo, claiming it to be the industry’s first phone with a 200MP main camera. Though Xu did not reveal any further details, multiple Chinese media outlets have reported that the camera will feature on the premium version of the new device, the Pro Plus. Sources claim the 11 Pro Plus camera system will feature a 200MP Samsung sensor and a circular rear camera module. Powered by mid-range chipset Mediatek Dimensity 7050, the flagship is designed to emphasize photography rather than gaming, Realme’s traditional focus. The phone brand is scheduled to launch its new 11 series in China on May 10, with three models: the Realme 11, Realme 11 Pro, and Realme 11 Pro Plus. In 2022, Realme shipped close to 52 million smartphone units across the globe, representing a decline of 19.5% year-on-year, according to market data platform Statista. [IThome, in Chinese]
