TSMC, the world’s largest contract chip manufacturer, has significantly increased its capacity utilization for advanced process manufacturing, driven by increasing orders from AI tech firm Nvidia, according to an exclusive report from Taiwanese media outlet Economic Daily News. The utilization rate for the 5-nanometer process has risen from 50% to 70% and 80%, while the 7-nanometer process has gradually increased from 30% to 50%. TSMC previously disclosed that the 5nm and 7nm processes accounted for approximately 50% of its first-quarter revenue, making them crucial sources of income for the company. In May, TSMC reported revenues of NT$176.53 billion ($5.73 billion), marking a 19.4% increase compared to the previous month. [Economic Daily News, in Chinese]
