Chinese video platform Bilibili is implementing a new approach to measure the popularity of its uploaded videos. Instead of displaying view counts beneath the videos, the streaming platform will use figures based on users’ watch time. CEO Chen Rui announced this change during Bilibili’s 14th anniversary celebration on Monday, stating that it aims to “better highlight the quality content on the platform.” The updates are expected to be finalized in the upcoming weeks. During the first quarter, Bilibili recorded an average of 350 million monthly active users, a decrease of 11 million compared to the previous quarter, marking the second consecutive quarterly decline in user numbers for the platform.
