Chinese memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies has started mass production of LPDDR6 DRAM and will supply the chips for Xiaomi’s upcoming 18 Fold foldable smartphone, the companies said on Aug. 29. Xiaomi has confirmed that the phone is scheduled to launch in September.
The development comes less than a year after CXMT began mass-producing its previous-generation LPDDR5 chips. Xiaomi’s internally developed Xring O3 processor is also expected to support LPDDR6, linking CXMT’s latest memory technology to the company’s next flagship device. [Reuters]
