Mercedes-Benz launched its updated long-wheelbase E-Class in China on November 2, introducing an AI cockpit independently developed under the leadership of its Chinese research team. The three E 300 L variants are priced from RMB 423,800 to RMB 509,800.

The cockpit integrates ByteDance’s Doubao model into Mercedes-Benz’s virtual assistant and adds Huawei HiCar alongside Apple CarPlay. Its voice system supports on-screen commands and voiceprint recognition for up to six users, while a configurable interface lets drivers combine different conditions and actions into personalized vehicle routines.

The system will receive major quarterly over-the-air updates and is scheduled to expand to more Mercedes-Benz combustion-engine and electric models. [iFanr, in Chinese]
