As China grapples with a new wave of Covid-19 outbreaks and the country’s highest case numbers in two years, five new at-home antigen testing products were approved for sale by state health agency the National Medical Products Administration on March 13. The move brings to 10 the number of self-testing kits now available in China, according to Economic View, with the products available on Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Meituan and Alibaba’s Tmall. China has been focused on the use of hospitals or community-based facilities instead of at-home kits since the beginning of the pandemic. It remains to be seen how widespread usage of such kits will now become. [Economic View, in Chinese]
