Foldable phone sales hit 587,000 units in China in the second quarter of 2022, according to a report from CINNO Research published on Tuesday. The figure represents a growth of 132.4% from the same period last year. The report also stated in the first half of this year, sales of foldable phones hit 1.3 million units, surpassing the total foldable phone sales for 2021. Such growth is a surprise considering China’s smartphone shipments saw a 10% year-on-year decrease overall to 67.4 million units in the same period, according to Canalys. In the second quarter, Huawei took the lead in the foldable phone sector, selling 351,000 devices for a 70% yearly growth rate. Samsung and Vivo rank second and third with 16.6% and 10% of the market respectively. [CINNO Research, in Chinese]
