Chinese automaker GAC Aion released the Hyper GT, a coupe aimed at the mid- to high-end market, at the 2022 Guangzhou Auto show on Dec. 30. The model, which is being touted as “the world’s lowest wind resistance production car,” will be priced from RMB 300,000 ($43,430) and will sit under Aion’s high-end subbrand Hyper. Aion’s general manager Gu Huinan said at the auto show that Hyper is Aion’s effort to expand its influence in the more affluent market segment. Hyper’s first model was the Hyper SSR supercar, a luxury model priced from RMB 1 million. Currently, most of Aion’s models are priced between RMB 100,000 and RMB 200,000.
