Insiders indicate that Li Auto’s factory in Shunyi, Beijing, is expected to be fully functional by August this year. The plant will be responsible for manufacturing Li Auto’s first electric vehicle, an MPV known as the W01 internally. The W01 is set to enter the highly competitive multi-purpose vehicle market. This market segment has seen a rise in new entrants since 2022, including high-end models such as Voyah Dreamer, Denza D9, and Zeeker 009. In addition, Volvo intends to unveil its own MPV later this year. However, the overall MPV market has experienced a steady decline in recent times, and Li Auto’s entry into the electric vehicle domain will likely present challenges. Li Auto’s new factory was built on a factory previously owned by Beijing-Hyundai.  [Meiren Auto, in Chinese]
