Bilibili plans to integrate multiple teams from its e-commerce unit and set up a new primary department that will serve the transactional and commercial needs of content creators and users, according to an internal email seen by local media outlets. The newly-formed division, named the Transaction Ecology Center, aims to “build a transactional ecosystem with distinctive characteristics that align with Bilibili,” according to the email. The company’s chief operating officer Li Ni will assume leadership of the unit. The move is a major part of Bilibili’s efforts to accelerate its monetization process, as the firm aims to break even by 2024 after incurring a loss of RMB 7.5 billion in 2022.
