Chinese electric car maker Nio is recruiting for a number of positions in preparation for building a manufacturing location in the US, Chinese media outlet Yicai reported on Friday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The company is hiring talent with overseas work experience in manufacturing center planning, car body process technologies, infrastructure planning, and logistics management, the report said. Candidates for the manufacturing center planning specialist job are required to have work experience in the US and be familiar with industry practices in the country. These are the kind of professionals the company would need to set up a factory, the story cites a market analyst saying. Nio already runs a research and development center in the US and is looking to open a new R&D center in Singapore. Currently pursuing an accelerated globalization initiative, the firm plans to offer services in 25 countries such as the US, Japan, Australia, and Germany by 2025. [Yicai, in Chinese]
