What happened: EV startup Faraday Future has announced the completion of the FF 91 body-in-white, which is now at the company’s new assembly facility in Hanford, California. The company believes that the first batch of FF 91 will be ready by the end of the year.
Why it’s important: Faraday Future first revealed the FF 91, the company’s first production vehicle, at CES 2017. In January, the company held a test drive event to show off the new prototype, but much of the spotlight was still fixated on the indebted founder of LeEco Jia Yueting, who was the main backer of the company. The all-electric FF 91 was seen as a fierce Tesla competitor when first unveiled. Whether or not the company actually delivers the vehicles as promised; only time will tell.
